The Iron Lady seeks to become a comprehensive examination of the life and political career of Margaret Thatcher, the ninth Prime Minister under Queen Elizabeth II and the United Kingdom's longest serving Prime Minister of the modern era. In the wake of recent successful Stephen Frears/Peter Morgan biopictures of British political figures such as Queen Elizabeth II (The Queen), Tony Blair (The Special Relationship) and Gordon Brown (The Deal) or even American ones such as Frost/Nixon (2008), The Iron Lady has a lot of live up to especially considering the film's subject was one the most controversial and in many circles the most hated political figure in Great Britain of the past forty years. Nevertheless, any and every biopicture should move beyond the criticisms or short-comings of the figure though these aspects should never be ignored or absent. However, any compelling biopicture must make a detailed case for why this person is any important, significant or special.
